We wish to announce Mrs Burnett Bakker's departure from Horizon School late in Term 2.
Burnett has illuminated our Horizon whānau with joy and love leaving a lasting impression on our community. While we will miss her presence among the staff and tamariki we wish her nothing but the best for her future endeavours.
Miss Robin Fraser will be replacing Mrs Bakker as the full-time Room 9 teacher.

It is with mixed emotions that I have made this decision. I have realised that I need to make a lifestyle change and prioritise my children, who need me to be more present at home. While I have loved working at Horizon School, I feel the need to devote more time and attention to my family at this important stages of their lives.
I deeply appreciate the understanding and support the school has shown me during this decision-making process.
I want to thank the entire Horizon School community for the guidance, encouragement, and memories I will forever cherish. It has been an honour being a part of the school.
I will work diligently during my remaining time to ensure a smooth transition. I am committed to assisting in any way possible to support my replacement and maintain the continuity of the excellent education that Horizon School provides.

Tris Bondsfield has consistently volunteered in our library for the last few years. We feel so fortunate to have someone with her knowledge and passion curating our various library spaces and regularly keeping our shelves up to date with a vast variety of books. Thank you Tris!! 🥰

Greetings book fans 🙂
A little update on the library for you. With voyagers and college now together we've merged their books and created a small library area in the college for them to share.
Junior school library is still in the prefab building. We've done quite a lot of weeding of very old and damaged stock now and added lots of newer books thanks to the amazingly generous donations from school families. THANKYOU so much for considering the school when you have a bookshelf clear out!
I'm working on ideas to try and fundraise for the library spaces and would welcome any suggestions 🙂 We would love to get some nicer soft furnishings for the junior library, that match and aren't damaged, and perhaps a matching table and chairs. I would love to breathe freshness into the space with a lick of paint! Some large pot plants for both spaces to add some life, and of course some lovely books to add interest to the shelves. We could use another tall wooden bookshelf in the college (to match the 2 on the right) to allow us to expand the collection there too.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who has ideas, donations or would like to be involved in library fundraising or renovations, please feel free to dm me 🙂
