THE BIG LITTLE SCHOOL

Horizon is a welcoming, vibrant school environment in Snells Beach with a holistic approach to learning from primary right through to college.

Horizon speaks of the journey we guide children on – the journey of learning, growth, and faith. It provides numerous possibilities for our students as they step into the world. Our Christian foundations nurture a sense of identity and purpose in young people, equipping them to live life to the full and to grow academically while also experiencing the wonder of God all around them.

Principal's Welcome

Primary School

Years 1-6

In our nurturing primary school environment, tamariki feel a deep sense of whanaungatanga and are equipped with the skills and strategies to embrace tuumatatanga (taking risks) and growth in their learning. Our Year 1–6 primary teams build strong foundations of learning that empower tamariki to extend and challenge their potential. Through well-planned, structured, and diverse experiences, learners gain confidence and success, serving as the cornerstone to becoming lifelong learners.

As a Christian school, we support tamariki to grow in their whakapono and deepen their relationship with God individually and collectively through daily learning, prayer, worship, and reflection.

MIDDLE YEARS

Years 7-8

The Middle Years students at Horizon use learning in meaningful ways and make connections of the relevance of learning to life. They develop critical and creative thinking skills within subjects and are given the opportunity to experience an array of real life skills through enriched options.

Formation of the person is a crucial aspect to our curriculum, weaving the Christian faith through learning and prioritising holistic development.

College

Years 9-13

Learning at Horizon College is engaging, authentic and relational. We provide a bespoke curriculum for our rangatahi, where learning is an invitation to explore, question, create and grow. Our school is a community where faith and learning walk hand in hand. Whether studying marine biodiversity, launching a business, or studying literature through the lens of social development, students engage in subjects that are relevant and connect them to the world around them.

Grounded in the Christian worldview, students are nurtured not only in knowledge but in character, courage, and calling, with relationships at the centre. Each student is truly known and supported—by teachers who work collaboratively and mentor deeply.
