Masters of Education Practice, Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) and Worldview Studies
I started working at ACG Parnell College in Auckland 8 years ago and last year I completed my masters degree in education. I am married with a son and daughter.
As a teacher, I enjoy the opportunity to challenge students’ self-perceptions and their perspectives on the world. I love facilitating their discovery that relationships underpin all learning, regardless of the subject. It’s very rewarding to build trusting connections with students and watch them exceed their own expectations.
Working in an environment that focuses on the holistic development of young people within the special character context of hope, faith and love, is a privilege. Developing autonomous, curious learners through purposeful real-life experiences is a goal that has captured the imagination of everyone at Horizon.
Within my role overseeing pedagogy school-wide, I am excited to help students become empathetic and self-aware learners who are equipped to shape their own learning experiences and articulate what they are learning and why. I am enjoying developing literacy through initiatives like our writers club, theatre sports, speech competitions and book weeks.
